How to humanize AI text without changing what it says
Start with a useful draft, identify what sounds mechanical, then make the writing clearer for its reader. A humanizing tool helps with language; your own review supplies the judgment.

1. Check the draft before editing its style
Read the original for unsupported facts and unclear logic. A smoother sentence can hide a bad claim, so verify names, figures, dates and references first. Decide who will read the document and what they need to understand.
Mark phrases that need to stay exactly as written. Keep direct quotations intact and preserve qualifications such as “may,” “suggests” and “in this sample.” If a paragraph is missing evidence, add verified evidence yourself rather than asking a rewrite to invent it.
2. Remove filler and vary the structure
Cut introductory padding when the sentence works without it. Replace abstract descriptions with the specific action already present in the draft. Merge repeated points, but keep distinct claims and meaningful list items.
Vary sentence length to fit the thought. A short sentence can make an action clear; a longer one can explain a condition. Forcing every sentence to be short or adding slang does not make writing more human. Choose a style that fits the audience and use Polish or Rewrite according to how much work the draft needs.
3. Compare meaning, then read aloud
Compare the original and the edited version. Check who did what, whether a possibility became a certainty and whether a deadline or attribution shifted. Then read the result aloud to catch repeated rhythms, awkward transitions and language you would not normally use.
Keep useful edits and adjust the rest. Review quotes, citations and technical terms in the complete document, especially after processing separate sections. Judge the final writing by its clarity and accuracy, not by an AI detector percentage.

Before
It is worth noting that the small sample may limit how widely the findings apply.
After
The small sample may limit how widely the findings apply.
Illustrative edit: filler disappears; the limitation and uncertainty remain.
Frequently asked questions
Should I add mistakes to make text look human?
No. Deliberate mistakes make the document harder to read. Clear wording, specific evidence and a register that fits the audience are more useful goals.
Should I keep rewriting until a detector score changes?
A detector score is not a reliable editing target or proof of authorship. Compare the meaning and follow the disclosure rules for your context.
